Why this page?

We (DiscoverSoriano) get very frequent e-mails and calls from future guests of Palazzo Catalani looking for assistance, so this page was created to explain the relationship between Palazzo Catalani, DiscoverSoriano.com, and the respective guests.

What is Palazzo Catalani?

Palazzo Catalani is a time share hotel located in Soriano. It is operated by Diamond Resorts (previously Suntera), and is frequently booked through the Global Resorts Network, a multi-level marketing supported travel network. The palazzo attracts a great deal of people from the United States and England, being Diamond’s only resort in Italy. It is a beautiful building that was once the home of the Catalani family (close friends of Paola’s family), and was converted into a time share hotel. The rooms are beautiful, and by all accounts we have heard, their service is excellent.

How does DiscoverSoriano.com relate to Palazzo Catalani?

DiscoverSoriano and Palazzo Catalani are in no way affiliated, and have no reciprocal agreement or collaborative relationship whatsoever. What we do have in common is that we both cater mostly to guests from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, but there is no collaboration between the two companies.

Why are we making this statement?

The management of Palazzo Catalani has shown concern that a great deal of their guests were arriving with a sense of confusion, expecting that Palazzo Catalani offered the same services that DiscoverSoriano does. Palazzo Catalani does not offer the same tours, cooking classes, in-room amenities, U.S. point of contact, airport pickup service, gps, etc. that DiscoverSoriano does. Furthermore, Palazzo Catalani does not book any DiscoverSoriano offerings on behalf of their guests. Additionally, the management of Palazzo Catalani had shown concern that some guests thought DiscoverSoriano and Palazzo Catalani were the same company.

We have the utmost respect for Palazzo Catalani, and we understand that they, as a time share hotel, cannot offer the same types of premium services that DiscoverSoriano does.

Why don’t DiscoverSoriano and Palazzo Catalani have a collaborative relationship?

While DiscoverSoriano would certainly welcome such a relationship, Palazzo Catalani’s management has expressed regret that they are unable to foster such relationships, as they are part of a larger multinational organization.

Does DiscoverSoriano recommend Palazzo Catalani?

Yes. Palazzo Catalani and DiscoverSoriano cater to two very different kinds of guests. Palazzo Catalani offers a much more hotel-like experience, while DiscoverSoriano's experience is more about integrating into Italian culture during your stay. In other words, when you walk into the Palazzo, you will be surrounded only by hotel staff and other foreign guests. They have a front desk, an in-hotel restaurant, etc.

On the other hand, DiscoverSoriano is quite the opposite. A DiscoverSoriano home is a fully self-contained residence that has been completely outfitted with first-class everything, but is integrated into Italian village life. The person next door is not a tourist... they live there. Our guests shop in the local fruit stands and grocers, they become part of the fabric of life in this little Italian village.

For the person that wants the traditional hotel experience, the Palazzo is absolutely beautiful, and by all accounts we have heard, their service is excellent. Their rooms are stunning, and their staff is very friendly and helpful.

Does DiscoverSoriano help Palazzo Catalani Guests?

We are always happy to help all visitors to Soriano, no matter where they are staying. We want you to have the best possible trip to Soriano no matter what the case. If you are a future Palazzo Catalani guest, we will be more than happy to help you and answer any questions you may have. Simply call or e-mail us, and we will treat you in the same way we treat our own guests.

Does DiscoverSoriano offer its services to Palazzo Catalani Guests?

As mentioned above, we are always happy to help, but with respect to the premium services we offer (cooking classes, tours, etc), we have found that it is logistically difficult to manage. Palazzo Catalani has various activities available to their own guests, and we have experienced numerous timing conflicts. Without a direct collaborative relationship with the Palazzo Catalani staff, we cannot guarantee you the type of service we insist on.

Can Palazzo Catalani Guests extend their trip with DiscoverSoriano?

Yes. This is not at all uncommon. Many people have stayed one week in the Palazzo, and extended their stay in our village homes. Additionally, many groups have come to Soriano with some people staying in the Palazzo, and others staying in our homes. However, with respect to tours and cooking classes, we can only offer them while you are our guest, or if it is a mixed group, at least part of the group is our guest.

I want to bring my grandson to Italy, Spain and perhaps north to Norway. I would like to travel via Eurrail. We are memebers of a timeshare tht has the Palazzo Catalani as an exchange resort for our points.
Is it possible to travel by train to the resort? Take advantge of some of your offerings? move on to other areas of Italy and still remain in the resort? travel then out of the area via train to other parts of Italy-- recommendations are greatly appreciated -- and then on to pain?
THANK YOU SO MUCH. My grandson speaks a little Spanish -- Mexican actually.
