| Description |
All towns in Italy celebrate Carnival (Mardi Gras) to some extent. The greatest of Carnivale celebrations, however, is in Venice. Vignanello celebrates with a wonderful parade of costumes.
FYI: I don't know about the traditions in other places, but Soriano has a tradition in which during the night of Carnivale (Fat Tuesday), all of the restaurants hold huge dinner dance parties, and the residents of the town are not supposed to sleep at all that night. The tradition holds that if a group of people suspects that a friend has gone to sleep, they find the person (including breaking into their home) and open an umbrella over them, shouting out 'PRESSO' (Gotcha!). The person that chose to sleep is then carried out of their house (no matter what they are wearing ) and taken to the central caffee', where they must buy drinks for everyone.
