That depends on what you want to see. Venice, The Italian Alps, and other places in the north are too far away to make a day trip. Sicily and southern Italy are too far for a day trip. But most of the places people go to see in Italy are in central Italy, and you can't get much more central than Soriano. You can easily make day trips to Florence, Rome, Naples, Pompeii, The Amalfi Coast, Perugia, Orvieto, Assisi, Pisa, and Siena. This is part of what makes Soriano so special. It is the perfect base from which to launch all of these trips.
If you are staying in Rome, a day trip to Florence is a major undertaking. Just getting out of the city in your car can leave you wanting to give up. But from Soriano, you drive 15 minutes to the A1 Expressway and less than two hours to Florence. Or you simply drive 15 minutes to the train hub and take a train into central Florence. It is easy and efficient. The same goes for any of the places you will want to visit. If you want to go to Rome, simply leave your car at the train hub and take the 36 minute ride into central Rome. It could take you nearly that long just to go from the Vatican to the Coliseum in a taxi.
Soriano is a half hour from Orvieto and Terni. About an hour from Assisi and Perugia. About two hours from Florence and Siena, and under 3 hours from Naples, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Pisa, etc.
This is Soriano's second greatest strength... the first being the sheer beauty of the town and area surrounding it.
