What is the maximum number of people for a custom tour? PDF Print E-mail

There is really no maximum number of people on our tours, except that the larger the tour, the more advance time we will need for preparation.

Keep in mind, however, that our cooking classes normally have a limit of 12 people per class. This is because our classes are held in our teaching kitchen, and we have found that 12 is the largest manageable number. If yo8u have a larger group that wants to do cooking classes during your tour, we handle it in one of three ways:

  1. We break the group up, and part of the group does a class while others do an excursion. For example, if you have 48 people in your group, we could arrange it so that everyone gets three classes in a week by dividing them into four groups. Group A does a class on Sunday morning while Groups B,C and D go on a morning excursion. In the afternoon Group B does a class while groups A, C and D go on an excursion. On the following day, group C does the morning class and group D does the afternoon class, and so on.
  2. Another other option would have us create a modified menu for the classes, and hold them outdoors. We cannot do our normal 4 and 5 course menus this way, but many of the things we do can be done on large scale. For example, pizza and pasta made from scratch can be done on larger scale, but Tuscan Roasted Chicken cannot.
  3. Large scale classes can be less hands-on and more demonstration.

It is also important to consider that when we have larger groups, we cannot put them in our village homes. Between our village homes and the local bed and breakfasts, the soft maximum number of people we can sleep at a time is 22, with a hard maximum of 30 using foldout beds in some homes. For larger groups, we use local hotels.

For tours that will venture out of our local area of Rome, Umbria and Southern Tuscany (This includes tours that will visit places suich as The Amalfi Coast, Venice, Cinque Terre, etc.), we use hotels in those cities.
